From Crystal Council: Septarian Nodule also referred to as Dragon Stone, is a tri-color crystal composed of Aragonite, Calcite, and Limestone. It formed around 50-70 million years ago during Earth’s Cretaceous Period. Sea life during that time became attracted to the molten sediment that was produced by volcanic eruptions. Over time as sea life began to die, their chemical composition became embedded in sedimentary rock, forming the nodules we see today. As the oceans dried out massive cracks formed internally. The chemicals within the dead sea life eventually crystallized and formed Aragonite “crusts” and drusy Calcite crystals. Most Septarian Nodules are from Utah, where the Gulf Of Mexico once spanned. It is also found in Madagascar which was under the same conditions.

The calcite (yellow) in Septarian is UV-reactive and glows under blacklight.
